The 2024 International Food Festival brought a tantalizing array of global flavors to Hanoi, offering locals the chance to savor unique dishes from around the world.

From the savory Azerbaijani doner to the rich Colombian cheesecake, and the delectable Pakistani pastries, this year festival takes Hanoi residents on an exciting culinary journey around the world.

Held on December 8 at the Diplomatic Corps Urban Area, No.298 Kim Ma Street, Ngoc Khanh Ward, Ba Dinh District, the festival’s theme “Gastronomy of Unity” aims to celebrate the power of food and bring Vietnamese and international friends come closer together.

The annual gastronomic event features over 100 booths from 40 embassies and international organizations in Vietnam, along with 18 localities across the country and various units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It attracts thousands of visitors eager to explore and taste the rich diversity of global cuisines.

Festival-goers have the opportunity to sample distinctive dishes like Ukrainian grilled lamb, Azerbaijani doner, Colombian cheesecake, Pakistani pies, Russian borscht, among many others. Vietnamese cuisine also takes center stage, with popular dishes like pho, spring rolls, sticky rice, and traditional cakes, winning over the most discerning local and international palates.

Beyond the delicious food, the festival offers a glimpse into the culture of each participating country, allowing international guests and Hanoi residents to connect, learn, and share in a spirit of unity. The event also features exciting activities such as the Beer Festival, the “Five Continents Kitchen” culinary experience, the Culinary Passport program, and a Spring roll- making Contest.

Since its inception in 2014, the International Food Festival has become a signature cultural, culinary, and diplomatic exchange event. For Vietnam, it’s an opportunity to share the nation’s rich culture and warm hospitality with the world, while promoting local businesses to an international audience.

Over the years, the funds raised by generous donors have supported charitable initiatives, benefiting orphans, the disabled, disadvantaged women, and vulnerable communities across the country.

Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, Spouse of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, representing   the event’s organizers, emphasized: “We hope this year’s event will continue to receive your support, spreading love, supporting those in need, and reinforcing the positive, humane values of this celebration.”
